The town had changed a lot! Mischa had a wide smile on her face as she gave a piercing stare at each and every shop in the marketplace. The old shops looked quite trendy with a lot different ambiance and well the town was swarming with a lot more people than ten years ago. The population had grown while she was away. But the smell of beach, the rush in the market on a Monday when the market opened a huge gathering of vendors from neighboring towns and the few familiar faces were the still the same. Mischa smiled and glanced at the tiny little girl, who was almost a perfect clone of her who was tugging at her blouse wanting her mother's attention.
Her smile grew wider as she stopped the slow pace they were taking and kneeled down before her. Mommy, I don't like it here. Everybody is staring at me, Hazel, her seven year old daughter scowled. Mischa's smile vanished. It was true. Her daughter was a stranger in town. And in a small town like Silentville, strangers always caught enough attention. And Hazel was no ordinary stranger. No one in town knew that Mischa had a daughter. And standing at the middle of the market with a young girl with exact chin, nose and curly blonde hair like Mischas was no thing to miss. Mischa had herself received several raised eyebrows and friendly smiles inviting conversation. But she was not ready to face the questions yet.
"Baby, they are looking at you because you look just like me when I was little. And a lot of people here knew me well because...", she paused. A lot of people knew her because as kids Katherine and Mischa would do a lot of mischief. They would gang up and pick up a fight with one of the younger kids. "Because we were really brilliant kids. Listened to our parents and did all our homework", she gave a small wink and ruffled her hair. "Now lets get out of here smartypants and grab some dinner. You want to eat Pizza? We have one of the best barbecue pizzas here", haazel nodded and Mischa gave another wink to her before standing up and taking a u-turn.
